Information for Users with Disabilities
Mission
The University Libraries are committed to providing equal access to its services and collections for all students.
Services
The staff will provide services and/or accommodations aimed at make equal access to library resources. The type and nature of the special assistance is usually determined by the request. While most special assistance can be given at the time of the request, it may be to your advantage to make an appointment for non-routine accommodations so that appropriate staff can be scheduled to provide timely assistance.
Some examples of the services that may be provided, in addition to services such as document delivery or interlibrary loan, include:
  1. retrieval of materials from the stacks (library staff will retrieve limited numbers of items) in the first instance. Additional time will be necessary to retrieve an extensive list of titles and students will need to make suitable collection arrangements.
  2. physical assistance with searching the Libraries' online catalog, related databases, and manual files and assistance with using microform and audiovisual equipment.
  3. reference or other assistance by appointment
  4. photocopying assistance for simple copying of library/course materials during regular hours (library staff will assist with photocopying one or two articles immediately. Additional time will be necessary for extensive photocopying and students will need to make suitable collection arrangements [either in person, by mail or email]).
Study Rooms
One study room is available on the second floor of the library. Please inquire at the Circulation Desk.
Access to the library
  • direct access to the Library from the front door of the library for wheelchair users and users with limited mobility
  • direct access to the second and third floor by elevator.
  • accessible restrooms on all floors of the library.

Student Responsibilities
A student with a disability has a responsibility to contact UTB/TSC Disability Services if he or she will need any accommodations while attending UTB/TSC. It is advised that a student with a disability make contact with the Director of DS even if no accommodation needs are expected. Doing so will help DS respond more quickly to future needs.
